Aberdeen Kart Club was scheduled to run on Saturday for the first of a two week series to allow prep testing for the Dakota Kart Tour. Unfortunately the skies opened up and caused them to cancel.
Sunday was a little more promising looking, but the drive to Buffalo City Karting in Jamestown North Dakota gave us the feeling that we were making the trip for a cheeseburger. Rain washed the DMA Motorsports rig for a good half hour of the 1.5 hour journey.
Upon arrival and setup the skies did open up and cause for a little sprinkling but it was short and effectively helped the racing surface. The kids put on a decent show and essentially proved that a well watered track is what they like 2 wide racing was happening as well a nice groove of rubber was getting laid down.
NOTE WORTHY FINISHES:
Wyatt Reisenour scored his first feature win on the season, with Ryan Erdahl in second.
Alex Andersen laid down a thunderous run for the second week in a row in Rookies! Big Brother Austin Andersen showed up to take care of business in the Jr.2 class.
Greg Moore takes home 2nd and 3rd with his Platinum Racing Chassis TG3.
Mother Nature would inevitably have her way by down pooring during the father’s day salute race. (This will likely get rescheduled.)
We made the hike on Monday to test out a new setup in the Platinum Racing Chassis TG3 on asphalt. Mother Nature again tried to wash us away by dropping some rain over intermission.
NOTE WORTHY FINISHES:
Spencer Freuh laid down some dominant lap times and pulled out a win in the rookie class
A.J. Smith proved he is not to be taken lightly in Jr.1’s as he stamped his name in the winners column! It is only his second season in a kart and his first season in the new tougher class.
Gracin Spieker scored his 3rd win in the Novice class and has elected to move up to the next experience bracket! Brother Ashton got stuck on the outside for the start and was shuffled all the way to the back of the field where he regrouped and marched back to the front scoring a solid 4th place.
Wyatt Reisenour won in the heat races and after a very hard fought feature found himself in a respectable 4th place finish. This came after getting airborne and having to use his hand to keep himself righted.
Brandt Winterquist, and the DMA Motorsports house kart sere both in the adult class. Brandt would have the best luck out of the two karts, placing 3rd in the main event, while a broken throttle clevis would knock Anthony and the 7K house kart out early on.
